Born in Nuneaton, England, in 1972. Amanda spent her childhood in England, then in France, moving from West to East. She arrived in the south of France in 1990, just after passing her baccalauréat « option théâtre ». She settled in Aix en Provence to follow the theater courses at the university, and met Vinciane with whom she created the company MadgiquePool in 1994.

Now living in Marseille, she’s working as an actress and as a director with several companies and has just finished a three –year- world tour with the company Philippe Genty.

I still remember that magical day of my childhood when my mother took me to an old italian-style theater to see Cyrano de Bergerac.Since then, the passion for stage hasn’t left me.

Meeting Vinciane and creating the company was really an major step, because I had then the opportunity to work on my proper projects which left place to my cravings of writing, acting and directing.

For the last ten years, my work has been centred on burlesque and it’s mechanical way of acting. My principal source of inspiration is the silent movies of the twenties. From concrete and simple every day situations, I’m searching to develop a rythmic way of acting, so that it is at the same time dynamic and poetic,realistic and shifted, moving and mildley nuts, all that in silence. The characters I’m inventing with the help of actors are confronted to life in an entirely intuitive way and can be in turn kind, naive, stupid, in love or totally cruel. I’m also trying to restore the esthetic atmosphere of silent movies, slapsticks, without using the tricks or settings we can see in films. Laughing is for me the most wonderful therapy of life….
